Allen Hunt from Dynamic Catholic has an excellent point.
"The size of your giving is not measured by how much you give, but by how much is left over after you give."
Luke 21:1-4 NIV - The Widow’s Offering - As Jesus - Bible Gateway
Through my recent spiritual journey and studies, I've been reminded of, ok I'll be honest, and even LEARNED several things:
- How much we give should be a reflection of how much you make. Rather than comparing yourself to others, pray with God to see what is best for you.
Do you talk to God about how much you should give?
- That everything we have on earth is from God. Thus 100% of what we have is God's. And that to truly honor God, we should be putting God first in our lives by giving back to God from the top of our pay cheque, not at the end out of our left overs.
Is God #1 in your life?
- That God wants us to give sacraficially. This means not just out of the left overs where it doesn't "hurt" or stretch you. Rather he encourages us to give enough that it stretches us, so that we have to have FAITH in God that our finances will be ok, even with this offering.
Are you giving sacraficially.... having FAITH that God will take care of you?
I encourage you to spend time in prayer and learning about giving. You will be amazed at the blessings that will appear in your life. I know I have been!
