The sacraments are visible signs of God's immeasurable grace working in our lives. Through the Holy Spirit, the Catholic Church recognizes seven sacraments established by Jesus. The seven sacraments are the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist), the Sacraments of Healing (Reconciliation and the Anointing of the Sick), and the Sacraments at the Service of Communion (Marriage and Holy Orders).
To learn more about the sacraments, view the Sacraments series on Formed (please note you will need an account to access the series more information on Formed can be found on the Formed page).
Through the Sacraments, God shares his holiness with us so that we, in turn, can make the world holier.
Children at Mary, Mother of the Church can register to receive the First Reconciliation (Confession), Communiion (Eucharist), and Confirmation by registering for Catechism.
As we grow older we can begin to make mistakes that hurt God and others. Luckily for us, we have the Sacrament of Reconciliation, sometimes called Confession, which allows us to correct our mistakes and fix our relationship with Jesus. Through the sacramental preparation classes, offered at Mary Mother of the Church, children will learn about God's endless mercy, our incredible need for His Love and how we can grow to be better disciples of Jesus Christ! Children in Grade Three or older are welcome to prepare for their First Reconciliation by registering for class by following the instructions at the Children's Catechism page.
The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life," as the Second Vatican Council taught, and as children go through the preparation classes for First Holy Communion, they will be able to join the Christian community in receiving the Body and Blood of Christ. These classes will be opportunities for children to learn and grow in their love of God, in the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist, and in the importance and centrality of frequent reception of the Eucharist! Children in Grade Four or older are welcome to prepare for their First Communion by registering for class by following the instructions at the Children's Catechism page.
Confirmation not only completes within us the great work that was begun at our baptism but begins our life more fully in the Holy Spirit and as living as God's Holy people. Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, children are given the grace and Holy Spirit to be disciples in our world. Through the preparatory classes, individuals will learn about the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives, how God wants us to continue to live and grow in our relationship with him, and how we are only beginning the great journey with God. Children in Grade Seven or older are welcome to prepare for Confirmation by registering for class by following the instructions at the Children's Catechism page.
