We invite your participation in a solidarity walk organized by groups engaged in migrant and refugee advocacy. Dedicated to showing solidarity with migrants and refugees in Winnipeg and around the world, on Saturday, June 15, 2019, we encourage all to gather for this Migrant & Refugee Solidarity Walk.
Inspired by the words of Pope Francis to “Share the Journey” with migrants and refugees, Development & Peace (Caritas Canada) has spearheaded this event to provide an opportunity for organizations to gather together to show their unity and solidarity alongside and with migrants and refugees. This event is open to all. We look forward to gathering a diverse group of young, old, refugees, migrants, and Canadian residents walking together!
Attendees will gather at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights to hear from speakers and a musical group. From there, we will walk together along Broadway Ave. to the Manitoba Legislature, where we will end with an opportunity to learn more from organizations working to help migrants and refugees settle into life in Winnipeg. We hope this event will be an opportunity for us to share the journey with the 68.5 million people who have been forcibly displaced.
At the end of the walk, there will be an opportunity for organizations to set up a table on the grounds of the Manitoba Legislative Building. If your organization is interested in having a space at this event, please contact Diana Ludwick (insert email address). This will be space for organizations to raise awareness and highlight their important work with migrants and refugees. Organizations must provide their own tables.
Please consider sharing this information widely with members and beneficiaries of your organization. Join us on June 15 to show your solidarity with migrants and refugees in Winnipeg!
