Every year, there are two scholarships available for students who are graduating from high school and entering post secondary education:  the Parish 25th Anniversary Award, and the Knight of Columbus Richard Benoit Scholarship.  Both these scholarships are valued at $500.

We are very excited and pleased to award the Parish 25th Anniversary Award to Shivaldi Tulus Makmud.

Since joining the parish with his parents Shivaldi has been an Alter server, Eucharistic minister, part of the children’s faith formation program.  He also volunteered in our catechism and summer vacation bible camps.  His role in our catechism program was a grade 5 lead, he was well-prepared each week and always enthusiastic and patient with the class.  He received his Confirmation in 2018 and attended every class. His academic achievements are also well deserving of this award. He was an excellent student, Shivaldi maintained a high degree of excellence and commitment to his school years and as such was able to graduate one year early.  He has been accepted to attend the University of British Columbia in the Bachelor of Arts program. We wish him continued success.

The Knights of Columbus are pleased to award the Richard Benoit Scholarship to Shalom Jose, a recent graduate of Fort Richmond Collegiate.

Shalom has been a member of our parish her entire life, and has been very involved with the life of Mary, Mother over the years.  She was an active altar server when she was younger, a part of the children’s choir, and is currently a Lector.  In addition, she has served joyfully in the Ministry of Children’s Faith Formation, as a catechist and as a Vacation Bible School volunteer.  Shalom is also an excellent student and very involved in extra-curricular school and community activities such as student council and dance. Shalom began her studies in Engineering at the University of Manitoba in September and we wish her all the best.

The Knights of Columbus received no applications  the Gus Van Ginkle scholarship (for students enrolled in a Winnipeg Catholic High School), so no scholarship was awarded in this category this year.
