Refugee Support Group

Sponsorship News January 2019
Greetings!  The refugee committee is again seeking your generous help.
As you may know, 2 years ago, with the help of the parish, we were able to successfully bring the Nieglo/Seguin family to Canada. They are now settled and our responsibilities have been fulfilled.
This year, the committee is embarking on another worthwhile task. Instead of bringing over an entire family, we are hoping to reunite a family in our parish with three relatives who are presently living in a refugee camp in Uganda where life is still very unsafe.
To accomplish this goal, we require a total of $23,000. We have $8,796 in residual donations from our previous sponsorship; therefore we need your assistance to raise the remaining $14,200.  Donations are eligible for tax receipts.
We are eager to start the long process of reuniting this family. To kick start the fundraising, 75% of the proceeds from the Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast on January 20 will be donated to support the project.
Special donation envelopes will be available at the table in the Atrium and can be deposited in the collection basket during mass. (cheques can be made payable to Mary Mother of the Church)
Thank you for your support!

“Each one of you has received a special grace, so, like good stewards responsible for all these varied graces of God, put it at the service of others.”  1 Peter 4:10

Direct inquiries to Maryam Wiens (committee chair).
