Development and Peace is the official international development organization of the Catholic Church in Canada. Inspired by Gospel values and in particular the preferential option for the poor, the organization supports the actions of people in the Global South so that they can take control of their destiny through community development programs. Development and Peace also educates Canadians on issues related to North-South imbalance and provides relief and disaster assistance in times of need. MMOC supports Development and Peace through various means, and especially in a fundraising and awareness campaign during Lent.
Immaculate Conception Drop-In Centre is organized by the Sisters of Charity (Mother Teresa Sisters) and is located at 181 Austin Street. They provide free meals weekly to children and adults. They also give away new and donated clothing, and hygiene items free of charge to families and individuals. MMOC parishioners volunteer at Immaculate Conception, and the parish regularly makes chili dinners and cupcakes for local residents who use the service.
